Wordsworth Books "3D flyer"

Get consumers to walk into Wordsworth Bookstores and not their biggest competitor located in the same shopping mall. Using augmented reality technology, they illustrated how Wordsworth books bring stores to life. After entering a partnership with the iMac store, opposite their client's store in the mall, they handed out flyers to consumers, wich were "torn out pages" from Wordsworth books, that when held up to the Macs' webcams became animated. 3-Dimensional depictions of the words. Consumers loved how the page came to life, Wordsworth Books reported increased traffic in their stores for the duration of the promotion.

Georgia Max Coffee "Ski Toilets"

Georgia Max Coffee chose to redesign the toilets of a number of key ski resorts in Japan. The cubicles were fully wrapped on all sides, so that the person caught short would have a ski jumper’s view when they were sitting on the loo. The person could look down at their skis (simply printed on the floor of the cubicle) and see the steep ski jump slope ahead of them. The toilet paper holder carried the only brand messaging in the cubicle, reading: “Seriously kick-ass intensely sweet for the real coffee super zinging unstoppable Max! Taste-explosion!” The message also featured the URL www.maxcoffee.jp, where visitors could view videos of extreme sports as well as sign up to the MAX community.

Sony Bravia "Zoetrope"

To promote Sony’s new Motionflow Bravia TV, Fallon built the world’s largest zoetrope, a rotating series of static images viewed through small slits, which was officially verified by the Guinness Book of Records. The filming of the zoetrope took place last November in the town of Venaria, near Turin, Italy.

Mini "Augmented Reality Advertising a Reality"

Mini has produced a spectacular advertisement, that’s one of the first of it’s kind. The car company created a print ad that when viewed though a web cam produces a virtual 3D model of their Mini Cabrio convertible on screen. The ad was featured in German automotive magazines: Auto, Motor and Sport, Werben & Verkaufen and Autobild.

Global Warming - Swimming Pool

As the world's first carbon neutral bank, HSBC pursues environmental initiatives throughout its organization. The task at hand was to increase awareness of their website, www.globalwarmingsolutions.co.in, thus educating people on minimizing climate change in a less theoretical manner. They glued an arial view of a city to the base of a swimming pool. Consequently, shocked swimmers and onlookers witnessed how global warming could destroy our world someday. www.globalwarmingsolutions.co.in received 300% more hits in the subsequent days of the activity. They also observed increased registrations pledging support for the cause. The idea received widespread media coverage and word of mouth publicity.

What is Lenticular Printing?

The sequential assembly of images printed on a lens.
The lenticular lens is composed of multiple parallel lens strips with the same optical caracteristics. Each strip magnify and project a micro image strip printed on the back of the lenticular lens, in way that all strips can be sequentially seen for each vision angle of the lens. When using vertical lens, it is possible to project stereoscopic (relief/3D) images for each eye. When using horizontal lens, it is also possible to project changing images, the image seen by the eyes depend of the vision angle. The lenticular sheet is an optically transparent substrate, with a flat backing that allows direct printing (offset), or pasting. Images must be made to fit precisely with the lens strips size and must be perfectly align with the lens strips.
I have attached a 3D effect for your viewing pleasure. Lenticular print is of course more expensive than a similar paper piece, but the impact much more important, and the retention on the customer attention is amazing.

3D Print Simulation Software

A 3D print simulation package designed to speed up initial design and approval stages has been launched by FFEI. RealVue 3D is a print approval tool that creates 3D visual simulations of print jobs, which let users turn pages, rotate viewing angles and zoom in on detail. It can also alter job characteristics on screen such as stock weight, finish and texture. The software is a plug-in for Adobe Acrobat and is available in two versions: RealVue 3D Standard and Professional. RealVue 3D Standard provides traditional viewing capabilities. However, Professional has a host of features that include varnish, binding, paper thickness and branding options. The system works by converting received PDF documents into 3D files, which are aimed to provide an accurate representation of the finished job. The PDF is converted quickly and the firm claims it can be sent back to clients within minutes of receiving the original file.“RealVue 3D takes the idea of page turning software to a new level. Agencies’ clients can almost feel the finished job, which will encourage them to commit to print. In a printing environment where added value is the current buzz term, this software may help to create a competitive edge.In addition to 3D print simulation, the programme allows users to view multiple 3D jobs at once. This means that a whole campaign, which may include brochures, letters and direct mail, can be viewed in 3D simultaneously helping clients to better visualise how a job will work.
